Finding calm and comfort through creative tools
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time" - Thomas Merton
Welcome to Rachel’s Writing Desk — a new series of videos on my Inspiring Positive Impact Substack newsletter and YouTube channel, capturing moments from my creative freelance life in the countryside.
Over the next few months, this new series will replace Practical Guidance, as I shift towards sharing more of my own process.
In contrast to my training content, these videos offer a slower, more personal look at the routines, tools, and creative practices that help me stay grounded in purpose-led work. I hope they bring a sense of inspiration or connection, especially if you're navigating change too.
In this first episode, filmed during a quiet Easter break with my family, I share what’s in my stationery bag. These are the tools I reach for when I need to feel more grounded. With work in flux and a few contracts coming to an end, I was carrying the weight of change and uncertainty. Journaling, planning, painting and making notes from the books I’d been enjoying helped me process it all, finding calm and comfort through creative routines that give me space to reflect and reset.

Thank you so much for being here. However things are changing for you right now, I'm sending encouragement for the road ahead.
